The Cooper Family

We are the Cooper Family

Just south of Kuta, Indonesia, Lance and Rachel live with their 3 boys, Fletcher, Lennox and Ziggy, in Hobart, Tasmania. Lance works as a school youth worker and Rach is a nurse. They have both extensively committed to serving in the local church and love their connections within their small beachside community.

Our Purpose

With an increasing number of surfers and their friends and families visiting Indonesia and particularly Bali each year, there is no better time to reach surfers with the love of Christ, like now. Bali is the surfing crossroad of South East Asia. It’s small in size, but contains a mosaic of mixed religion, alternate lifestyles, tourism and ex-pats. A unique place where people go to find themselves, but unfortunately end up losing part of themselves instead.

We are focused on seeing that change, and will continue to build on the C.S foundation that has had a mission there for the last 20 years. We are intentional about people finding their identity in Christ and believe strong connections and loving relationships are paramount.

Our History With CS

In 2020 we became a part of our local C.S family and brought a shared love for Indonesia, a heart to serve and a readiness to always be a part of the stoke. Since that time, Lance, coordinated a surf and mentoring program for teenagers, called Surf Jam and Rach, has been actively involved with Salt Sisters, an all female crew that enjoys the waves and makes positive impacts in their local community.

At the start of 2024, we were humbled to be stepping into the role as the Regional Coordinators for Indonesia and now look forward to our biggest adventure yet, and that is to see God move in a place we hold close to our heart.

Our Future

There has been a growing realization on how much more time we need to commit to this role. Over the next 6 months we would be blessed to be able to move into this role on a more part-time basis, with the long term goal of going into full time ministry. In addition to this, we feel our keenness for hospitality and relationships  is one of our strongest virtues. We will continue to pray and pursue the dream of having a new  establishment in the southern end of Bali, where surfers can come and stay, restore and call home.

Giving info

We are humbly seeking ongoing partnerships in both prayer and finance in order to see us supported in a part time role by the end of 2025. This will allow us to continue building on our developing relationships within the region and endeavor to support those on the ground more freely.

If you feel you have the capacity to support us in any of these ways, we openly invite you to join the journey with us.

You can give in the following ways:
