Christian Surfers Tahiti was founded by Kevin Heminway in 1998. With the participation of several Christian surfers and pastors, the association was created and launched with the vision of reaching Tahitian surfers with the Gospel of Jesus. Affiliating with the Tahitian Surfing Federation in 2000 has made it possible for international contests to impact the surfing world in Tahiti. The association has also helped in the creation of the first French Surfers Bible. 20 years later, in 2018, the association stays on the same course and a new team is born to take up the baton. Marurai Igrec, born and raised in Tahiti, has become the new National Director. He relies on prayer from Christians of all nations and on the Gospel to reach their goal, that every Tahitian surfer will know a Christian surfer and have the opportunity to know and follow Jesus Christ.
