A Message from our International Director

Ephesians 3:20 has become an unexpected theme verse for this year. I remember a season long long ago when I gave up surfing and decided that I would try to make God the centre of gravity around which my life would orbit. I say try because it's an ongoing lifelong exercise to reset the gravity of self and the distraction of other things.

Back then I could never have imagined that He had already begun a ministry to surfers. A ministry which began before I was a surfer. I could never have imagined that at some point in my life as a surfer I would meet the creator of the universe and shaper of the waves I ride. I could never have imagined that this God would invite me to be part of His family. I could never have imagined that I would get the opportunity to be part of His plan to establish Christian Surfers in South Africa and I surely would have never have imagined I would spend 11 months traveling around the world with my beautiful wife and two amazing kids, seeing and experiencing how He has rolled out His plan for surfers in some 36 nations.

He is the God of more than we can ask or imagine.

Now to Him who is able to do IMMEASURABLY MORE THAN WE CAN ASK OR IMAGINE, according to his power that is at work within us.

Realising that He has a plan and loves surfers and that He will enact this beautiful plan in a way that is immeasurably more than we can ask, think or imagine is wonderful, but what is more wonderful is being invited to ride the wave of this plan with each of the many wonderful people that make up the global Christian Surfers family. Even more amazing is that together we all get to do this with the first water walker Himself. Being able to be part of the story of what our extraordinary God is doing through ordinary surfers is more than we could have imagined.

So as we head towards the celebration of his birth could we have ever imagined that the Creator of the universe, the one who holds all things together would cloth himself in humanity, forsake His glory and become a servant. Who could have imagined he would die on a traitor's cross and who could have imagined he would rise three days later making a spectacle of sin and death? Who could have imagined that the carpenter would be exalted as our hope and example of eternity and that one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that he is LORD? Philippians 2:5-11

So as we as the CS family take all of this in, let us dream of 2016 and let us imagine the people in our tribe whom we would like to meet Jesus and then let's join Him to see more than we could have asked or imagined happen.

Blessings,
Roy Harley
