Japan Mission Trip 2017

Walking on Water are holding their 13th annual mission trip to Japan this year. Japan has a thriving and vibrant surf culture with approximately 2-3 million surfers. Japan is also one of the least reached countries in the world with the gospel--less than 1% professing faith in Jesus. There are more surfers in Japan than Christians and there is no better place to use your love for surfing to reach the lost.

This year they will minister on Amami Island in southern Japan. Amami Island is a subtropical climate island located between the southern tip of Kyushu and north of Okinawa and belongs to Kagoshima Prefecture. The island’s climate, beaches, fauna and flora make the island characteristically similar to the Okinawan islands to the south. The island is of volcanic origin surrounded by the East China Sea on the west and the Pacific Ocean on the east. The coast is also surrounded by a coral reef.

The team will work closely with the local Christian Surfers Japan crew to minister the hope of Jesus to the Japanese surfers they meet.
