The CS New Zealand Jesus Classic

CSNZ runs a Jesus Classic comp every year, we usually take this out reach comp to a location that a new Local Mission has started in that area. Wellington local mission started last year but covid meant we couldn’t run this unfortunately, so we tired again this year.

So this years Jesus Classic was to be in Lyall Bay so it would line up with our CSALT Academy Students out reach phase. This so happened to be the worst time to run a comp in Wellington let alone most places in NZ. The 100km winds that the capital gets in Spring is not surf comp material.

So we got praying for this day to be the best waves the capital has seen in years. And this is exactly what God did….

We had some epic sponsors this year which was unreal, especially in the times we are in. Most business don't have lots of spare cash! So we are very blessed by all our sponsors!

Backdoor & Hockly Plumbers supported us so we could give $1000 cash each to 1st place Open Men's & Women's!

Moana Road, & Sticky Johnson's gave us some unreal spot prizes to all our competitors!

Wellington Board Riders Club were unreal to work with pre-comp & after. We always go through the local Board Riders club, as we only want to be a blessing to them and the community.

Our amazing volunteers from around NZ, local Wellington CS mission, & CSALT staff & students we had lots of manpower to run this event well. We had people praying, talking to locals, while the comp was running. Almost every local surfer we talked to would say "Your God must have listened to your prayers, as we never get waves like this"

This alone was the biggest testimony of God’s goodness to us, so thanks to all those who prayed for this event!

At the prize-giving Holly Harris, one of our rad CSALT Academy students shared with the crowd about the love of Jesus. She spoke so well, so heartfelt and genuine. So many seeds were sown with so many people then and throughout the day! Many relationships started with lots of new connections with our local CS mission and churches around.

God is so faithfull!
