New by Joseph McCroskey

A new surfboard is a treasure. We can’t wait to try it out and tell our friends about it.

For some of us, it feels new for a long time; for others, the newness wears off quickly. Either way, eventually it’s old, even if you never use it. “Like new” isn’t new.

Our appreciation for all things new is part of God’s image stamped on us. The Lord is the eternal fountain of youth, the one who lives forever but never ages. He is forever new!

“When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world. The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new!” (2 Cor. 5:17 ERV) This is not just a once-in-a-lifetime moment; it’s an ongoing reality. The newness never wears off! We are in the one for whom newness is a constant, and he is in us. “The Lord's unfailing love and mercy still continue, fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.” (Lam. 3:22,23 GNT)

God loves a new song. Even if you aren’t a singer or composer or lyricist, you can offer Him a new song every day, in your unique way. Psalm 40:3 says that He puts the song in your mouth; it’s up to you to sing it, to live it, to offer it back to Him. Try it out, and tell your friends about it!
