CS South Africa National Gathering
As Told by Jason Mandonca
The Christian Surfers 2022 National Camp was an epic weekend! It’s so crazy to think that the home base of CS South Africa is Jeffreys Bay. As people gathered from all around the country it was so cool to see how an average weekend of waves in J-Bay is epic for people from other parts of the country!
We kept mornings open so that guys could connect and go shred on one of J-Bay’s many point breaks together and this created a fantastic space for one of the partners who joined us on the camp; The ACTS - The Action Sports ministry network to get to know and connect with surfers in the organisation.
We had an epic surf comp as well as an epic skate comp. The surf comp was a tag team competition and then we had the annual Mik Heat - a heat where all CS members from around the country try to beat one of South Africa’s best surfers, Mik from Strand. (The Mik Heat)
We had some awesome evenings where we gave all different CS Chapters from around the country to share what is happening within their space. It was so awesome to touch base after two years of not being be able to meet due to COVID and get all Chapters and CS members connected with the same vision to move this organisation of Jesus-Loving surfers forward.
On the second night newly appointed CSALT program manager, Megan Owen shared an awesome message about Hope followed by the national director Jason Mendoca (me!) on the third night who spoke about, God Making Much of the Little We Have to Offer.
We concluded our National Gathering with a sunrise paddle out in the shape of a cross followed by hot chocolate and muffins. All in all, it what as an epic weekend of connecting with Jesus-loving surfers from around the country.
