Living Water by David Nehrig

Joshua: 1:6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

As I began this year God has brought me back to this part of the Bible. Moses has died and now Joshua is in charge. Three times God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous.

How many times have you needed to hear those words? Maybe you are in a season where you need to be strong and courageous. Maybe you are taking your surfing to the next level, be strong and courageous because it gets hard.

I was in a hard season not too long ago when I was having a hard time seeing the future and what God had planned for me? I was doubting what God had gifted me to do and where he wanted me to serve and use my gifts. I knew I loved people and I knew I loved surfing. But I was not sure what I was to do?

It was a season I needed to hear it three times and maybe even a few more. David be strong and courageous.

At Christian Surfers we want to see every surfer and every surfing community know Jesus. This is what some call a big hairy goal. As we reach this tribe of surfers may we be strong and courageous. As we paddle out on the next hurricane swell may we be strong and courageous, as we face hard times in life may we be strong and courageous. As we strike up a conversation in the water about Jesus may we be strong and courageous.

Whatever the season you are in, remember the words God told Joshua Be Strong and Courageous.
