Living Water by Chad Borgestad

A few months ago, I had the privilege of attending the Christian Surfers staff meeting on the North Shore. I have been on the CS board for almost a year. I always tell people that I am the non-surfer/surfer that represents the board to the non-surfer world.

As we were wrapping up our time in Hawaii, David Nehrig had a mission to get me out and get me up on a board. So our very last day, we went down to a spot that was definitely geared for someone “learning” to surf. After a coaching lesson from David on the shore about the waves and picking your line; timing the waves, and avoiding other surfers, I was ready.

After paddling out to a few different spots I finally was in a spot to catch a wave. With a push from David to build up some speed, I was off, and the next thing I knew, I was up and riding the
wave…and eventually down.

It was exhilarating and exhausting all at the same time. But here is what I realized: In life we need mentors, teachers, coaches, other people who have been down a road maybe we never traveled. We need people who can give us a push, when we have no idea what’s coming from behind.

Who are you pushing into waves? Who are you coaching; training up? Who are you investing in trying to share your wisdom and knowledge with?

It doesn’t have to always be at the beach or on the waves, but I know that we were made to not just be about ourselves, but ALL OF US, were made to periodically, give others a push.

PRAYER
“Lord, thank you for modelling to all of us what it means to be a servant. Thank you for modelling to us what it looks like to push others into a wave so that they can stand up and experience the
ride of a lifetime.”

JOHN 10:10 – I have come that they might have life, and have life to the full.”
