Living Water by Nina Coons
Have you ever been waiting out the back for that perfect set wave and been rewarded for your patience? If you have, then you know that “wave of the day” was worth the wait, and better than all the small insiders that you could’ve had.
We are called to wait on the Lord throughout scripture. We are called to wait on him for our joy in tough times, for peace in chaos, for strength when we feel the weakest. Waiting on the Lord looks like seeking his presence and not moving till you find it, like waiting for the wave of the day.
When I graduated college, I had no idea what to do next. I felt confused and scared of what path I should take, and it all felt overwhelming. I started signing up for different certifications and jobs, just trying to keep myself busy. It was one of the first times I felt like I could not trust God with my future. I felt like I needed to figure everything out myself. I knew that anxiety and confusion were not from God, and I felt far from him. I started actively trying to seek the Lord and pray for my future. As I began to seek the Lord and wait for His direction, I felt so much peace and hope for my future.
Even though my circumstances didn’t change immediately, my whole outlook did. Jesus has perfect peace, joy, love and hope for us regardless of the situation. In my time of waiting, God blessed me with my current position at Christian Surfers. Since I started, I’ve seen the Lord affirm the fruit of patience and I know I’m where He intended me to be. Wait for his presence in everything!!
“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.” Psalms 130: 5-6
