Go Uncharted!
Hey guys,
If we haven’t met, my name is Miriam Bernhardt and I am one of the National Director of Christian Surfers Germany!
I know Germany isn’t exactly the edge of the world or some far-flung surf destination. But our crew of surf-frothed Germans are going uncharted in new and unusual ways!
As wave pools and river waves open doors for more people to experience surfing in Germany, the opportunities to connect with these communities are growing. The rise of these surf spots has created a unique environment where landlocked surfers can share their love for waves—and where the Gospel can be shared in meaningful ways.
Two years ago Philipp & I took over Christian Surfers Germany. We were absolute novices! Not knowing how to do this. But we were adamant! We first supported a Christian Surfers community centred around Germany’s main river wave: the Eisbach River Wave in Munich.
Little did we know - the Eisbach served as a prototype for numerous river waves to follow! And now, with the opening of Germany's first wave pool, we’re seeing the rise of a vibrant, nationwide surfing community.
As leaders, we felt the urge to move! Ready to take off into this uncharted realm and see who would move with us.
It started in prayer - having in mind what Jesus said to his disciples in Mathew 9:37-38:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”
Shortly after, God provided us with the incredible opportunity to take meaningful action by hosting our first-ever Christian Surfers National Gathering in northern Germany, near the seaside.
He equipped us with a Bible verse; Ephesians 2: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
We are called to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do!
This is how CS Germany is going Uncharted!
This is our call to good works. To reach the surfers who live landlocked in new ways!
Christian Surfers is raising funds to meet a VITAL US$35,000 funding need by December 31st!!!
All the best,
Miriam Bernhardt
