Living Water by Cheyne Jobbins

I have had a bad habit most of my surfing career of not properly fixing dings on my boards. I usually use either solar rez or the infamous duct tape ding repair. The thing about duct tape is it doesn’t really work long term to keep water out that will rot your surfboard from the inside. It is a very temporary fix for a problem that doesn’t go away with time.

In the same way, sometimes with sin, pain, and past hurt I try to use temporary fixes for my heart that only get worse over time and begin to rot me from the inside. The only true ding repair for my heart takes committed time with God to get the water (sin, pain, and past hurt) out of my heart. When the bad stuff is out I can live my best life. Don’t use duct tape to fix your heart and life. True heart repair feels much more difficult than quick fixes, but it will save your soul from rotting in the long run. You can buy a new board when it rots and breaks but you cannot buy a new soul.

Colossians 3:5-7: “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.”
