Living Water by Joey McCroskey

Aloha: Hello/Good-bye/Kindness/Affection/LOVE…so much wrapped up in this beautiful word. But there’s more! Aloha is also the Hawaiian word for the force that holds together all of existence (1).

When we say “good-bye” we are saying something similar if we consider that it is a shortened version of “God be with ye.” Our God is the true Force in the Universe and beyond — the Force that is personal and present. So, His being with us means that we have a relationship with the most epic of all companions. Reminding each other of this as we part company is the perfect send-off.

In Colossians 1:17 we read that Jesus “is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Do you see it? Jesus = Aloha! Scientists are intrigued by this force because without it every atom in the Universe would explode (2), and they don’t know precisely what (who) this force is until they believe in Jesus and what the Bible says about Him.

Hawaiians have always intuitively grasped that there is something that connects all things and all people and brings cohesion to what would otherwise be chaotic disorder. When they/we comprehend that this is, in fact, Jesus Himself, Aloha in all of its depth and glory fills their/our hearts and lives.

So, whatever you choose to say when you encounter people and depart from them, make sure you are spreading Aloha in its truest sense and reminding others of the One who permeates and sustains all of creation.

ALOHA!

2. See what Peter says will happen to all creation when Christ is ready to do away with it and remake it (2nd Peter, chapter 3): “…the elements will be destroyed by fire” (verse 10). When He ceases to hold all things together, the ensuing friction will be unimaginably destructive. And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” (Revelation 21:5)
